Dear Mermaids and Families,
I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful Mermaid family. Every summer of my youth was spent in the pool at ARD. My fondest memories include playing cards with the older girls during meets, 3 hour weekend routine practices, hair gel and knox in my hair for a week after the watershow, and spending my summers with amazing coaches and many of my best friends.
I feel blessed and honored to be able to carry on the coaching tradition of many great women in the Mermaids' history. During my tenure as a swimmer I had the privilege of being coached by the amazing Marsha Skinner, her daughter Tiffany Skinner, Nancy Bender, and Sherri Patton as well as many parent coaches and retired swimmers from this Mermaid community. I plan to carry on their tradition of Synchronized Swimming excellence and help further grow the Auburn Mermaid family.
We had a super exciting 2015 season (winning 2 meets, taking 3rd at championships, and moving 7 swimmers into the intermediate category!) and I want to thank all parents, swimmers, sponsors, volunteers, and community members who made our season possible. We are now looking ahead to the 2016 season and starting to recruit new swimmers and new sponsors to help our program grow. We are especially excited to round out our age groups by recruiting swimmers in the 13-14 age group and the 15 to 18 age group.
I would ask that you all think of someone you could personally invite to join our team. A sister, cousin, friend, neighbor or coworkers child might absolutely love to join the Mermaids and we would love to include them. Personal invitations go so much further than flyers and signs so please take the time and make the effort.
Thank you all for your participation in our program. Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and suggestions. We all have the same goal of making the Mermaids the best possible experience for each and every swimmer!
Best,
Coach Krista
