PARENT VOLUNTEERS ARE WHAT MAKES OUR TEAM POSSIBLE!
Each family is responsible to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours each season in order for our team to function and staff all our needs. Families must deposit a check for $125 to the parent board at the beginning of each season and those checks will be returned/destroyed at the end of the season if the family's volunteer hours are met.
We have a shutterfly volunteer site to make volunteering with the team easier for parents and organizers! See the link below. If you do not already have an account set up for our shutterfly site please send a quick note to [email protected] to let us know you need an invite.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Volunteer Coach - Coach Krista is looking to expand our number of coaches on deck and in the water at practices and working with routines! A minimum commitment of 1 regular practice per week is necessary to be considered a coach with the Mermaids (though we would love some extra coaches who can commit to more nights!). No synchro coaching experience is necessary. We will have coach training and planning for the season in April to help prepare all our new coaches and get us all on the same page. If you are interested in being part of the Mermaid coaching team please contact coach Krista at: [email protected]
Judge/Ref - Each season we need a whole team of judges/refs to run our meets and championships. Judging is a great way to really get to know the sport of synchronized swimming. There will be an all-team Sunday Judges Clinic (Date TBD) to help prepare judges and refs for the season. You must be available for at least 2 of our meets and for championships weekend.
Score Technician - This is a position for a computer literate volunteer. You will be running the computer system during meets, entering score info, and printing the stickers for the ribbons at the end of the meet. The program is already written and in use but the ability to trouble shoot is always handy. We are looking for someone who has their own laptop and portable printer for this position.
Runner/Recorder - These positions require no training! Only the ability to write or walk. While easy, these are crucial positions during our competitions. We will need runners and recorders at each meet and Championships.
Snack Bar Assistants - We will run a snack bar during our 2 home meets, championships, and our Water Show this season. We will ask for volunteers in advance of each event and have 2 to 4 hour shift assignments.
Costume Crew - We will need crafty volunteers to assist our Costume Coordinator in trimming and decorating suits and head pieces. The ability to sew will be helpful but there will also be gluing projects.
Photography/Filming - The team will need parent photographers at events as well as parents to film and show girls routines during our weekend routine practices. Also the possibility of creating a team yearbook for sale at the end of the season as an extra fundraiser.
Fundraiser Help
We will have numerous volunteer positions to help our fundraising efforts and events. Please check back for more details.
The coaches will ask for volunteer sign ups at our Back In Sync Meeting in May 2023. There will be many other ways to assist the team. Stay tuned!
